1. Our commitment
RIC Development Botswana is committed to providing an inclusive Sarona City website that can be used by people with diverse abilities, technologies and access requirements.
Accessibility is considered across website design, navigation, content, forms and ongoing improvements.
We welcome feedback from visitors who encounter an accessibility barrier or require information in a different format.
2. Accessibility standard
Our objective is to progressively align the Sarona City website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), particularly Level AA principles.
These principles require digital content to be:
- Perceivable: information can be recognised in different ways
- Operable: navigation and controls can be used with different input methods
- Understandable: information and interactions are clear and predictable
- Robust: content works with supported browsers and assistive technologies
This statement describes our accessibility direction and does not represent formal third-party certification.
3. Accessibility features
Accessibility measures currently incorporated into the website include:
- Semantic headings and page structure
- A “Skip to content” navigation link
- Descriptive form labels
- Visible focus indicators
- Keyboard-accessible links and controls
- Responsive layouts for different screen sizes
- Alternative text for meaningful images
- Descriptive labels for icon-based links
- Clear validation and form-status messages
- Consistent navigation and page design
4. Keyboard navigation
Visitors should be able to navigate primary website functionality using a keyboard.
- Use Tab to move forward through interactive controls
- Use Shift + Tab to move backward
- Use Enter to activate links and buttons
- Use the skip link to move directly to the main page content
5. Readable and understandable content
We aim to use clear headings, concise labels, readable typography and sufficient visual contrast.
Website content can normally be enlarged using browser zoom controls without losing core information or functionality.
Visitors can commonly zoom using Ctrl and + on Windows or Command and + on macOS.
6. Browser and assistive-technology compatibility
The website is designed for current versions of commonly used browsers and responsive devices.
Accessibility may be affected by outdated browsers, unsupported extensions, device settings or external services outside our direct control.
7. External content
Some functions may link to or display third-party services, such as maps or WhatsApp. The accessibility of those services is managed by their respective providers.
If an external service creates a barrier, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to provide the relevant Sarona City information through another channel.
8. Known limitations and improvements
Although we work to improve accessibility, some historical images, downloadable documents, complex maps or interactive gallery components may not yet provide an equivalent experience in every assistive technology.
We will review identified barriers and prioritise improvements according to their effect on access to important information and services.
9. Accessibility feedback
If you cannot access information or complete an action, please tell us:
- The page or feature involved
- The problem you encountered
- Your browser or device, where relevant
- Your preferred alternative format or assistance
